Vietnam Museum of Ethnology Vietnam, like China, is a multi-ethnic country, which is composed of 54 ethnic groups. On November 12, 1997, the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology (VME) inaugurated its permanent exhibition and officially opened to the public. VME is the national museum devoted to preserve and present the cultural heritages of these ethnic groups. It has the most complete and richest collections of its kind in Vietnam with over 15,000 artifacts, 42,000 photographs, and many slides, audiotapes and videotapes. Global Memory Net and Dr. Ching-chih Chen are grateful to VME's Director, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Huy for contributing part of the images of its collection to Global Memory Net as presented in this collection, Vietnam Museum of Ethnology. Many of the 54 ethnic groups in Vietnam have historical connections with the 56 ethnic groups in China as presented in Chinese 56 Ethnic Groups. With Global Memory Net's multi-collection search and multilingual capabilities, the two collections together have become invaluable and rich resources for multicultural studies. Similar to the use of Emperor Project's images, users can explore this image collection by clicking the following project label.
